Spice Cabinet

Spice Cabinet

Have you ever wanted to try a recipe only to find you don't have a spice they are calling for?   I have, and it was usually a spice that when left out would totally ruin the flavor of the dish.  -And it definitely was never a convenient time to go to the store when I was in the middle of cooking a recipe.  A long time ago I decided to keep a certain number of spices on hand that I use regularly.  Here is Comfort Food Kim's spice cabinet.  As soon as one is empty, I immediately replace it.  You do not have to run out and get these all at once.  If you add a few every time you go shopping, you will find that your spice cabinet will be stocked in no time!  Think organic when choosing your spices - no sulfites or added chemicals.
You may also want to buy a mortar and pestle to grind some of the whole spices.  I usually use this when I just want to lightly crush cumin seeds, for example, or when I don't want to grind something completely.
